Further details about the games I've made

SnowMan is another entry to the Horror RPG Maker gamejam, this time for the 7th one's theme: Polar Expedition!: Outgoing LINK

A bit rough around the edges, I made this one in about 14hours, and submitted it on the final day of submissions. I hope you'll forgive it's lack of polish;;

This was my first time using my own assets entirely- all things drawn in the game are by me aside from the background parallax through the bedroom window.

While I initially had qualms about hand-making my assets, I was ultimately pleased with the limited color palette I stuck with, and I actually had fun adding tiny things as details throughout.

This game is mostly story focused, not a lot of gameplay beyond walking and at one point, collecting some twigs and other simple things. SnowMan is about a man, Var, who moves to the mountains to get away from some distasteful things/poeple in his life.

Being alone and up in the mountains and with the Polar Expedition theme, I was reminded of the story of the Yuki Onna/Snow Woman and also the tale of the Man and the Crane- Japanese folktales about either a person in the tundra/snow covered mountains who beckon men to their demise. The crane story, however, was the most influential.

The Man and the Crane or The Crane's "return of favor", can be read about here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tsuru_no_Ongaeshi

In this game, Var, the protagonist, is lonely. He had no clue just how much he'd been, till he meets the secondary character, Bora, a pretty looking young man with long black hair and red eyes- a contrast to the white/greens in the area.

I was pleased with the overall tone and feeling of helplessness that came over Var in certain parts of the game. The entry itself is very, very short, so I'll save the spoiler details for a later date.

A bittersweet memory in the snow...a man meets someone he'll never forget. Ambiguous but almost laughably heartbreaking- I hope you'll enjoy this short tale.
